Sodexo Donates $1,000 on Giving Tuesday

December 04, 2019

This Giving Tuesday was extra special for those at Oregon Institute of Technology that might not know where their next meal is going to come from. OIT Dining Services was able to turn their $1,000 Stop Hunger grant from Sodexo's Stop Hunger Foundation into $2,000 due to the generous match from OIT President Dr. Nagi and his wife, Kasturi.

OIT Dining's General Manager, Steve Kappler applied for the grant this fall and was awarded the one thousand dollars on November 21st, just in time for Giving Tuesday. After gathering donations all day on December 3rd, 2019, Oregon Tech Alumni Association announced on their Facebook page that they collected over $27,000 in gifts.

The $2,000 will be earmarked to be used on the on-campus food pantry called the "Bird Feeder" that supplies food and supplies to students that are struggling with hunger.
